If you watched this movie as a child or a teen, you probably have a bit of nostalgia for it- but don't really remember if it's good or not. After going back, it's definitely not as good as I remember it being, but it's still a pretty fantastic waste of an hour and a half.
If you're feeling nostalgic, pop in your old VHS copy and give it a once-through, that should be enough to tide you over for another five or ten years. Grade: B- with nostalgia points, D+ without.
The Tiny Movie Review

King Kong (2005)
This movie is hilarious. It is in no way a serious movie, and you should go re-watch it (when you find time)
In one sequence they use the Wilhelm scream for a dinosaur, then have a blues-brothers-level pileup of brontosauruses, that's just ridiculous. At times, it tries to take itself seriously, but then it immediately reminds you that Jack Black is one of the main characters, or taps on the fourth wall to make sure you're not getting sucked in too badly.
It's definitely not an amazing movie, by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a solid C+ (on a high-school paper grading system)- better than average.
My Reviews
I watch a lot of movies- usually in the range of two to five a week, so the reviews will be short, concise and give you my opinion on whether or not you should see a movie, and what priority you should place on getting around to it.
I should hopefully have at least two reviews per week, although I make no guarantees to that fact...
If you are interested to know my biases, I favour Science Fiction films, Characterization heavy story with a lot of show-don't-tell exposition. I will usually only watch (and therefore review) movies that I have some interest in seeing, although I will sometimes watch a movie I have no interest in- if it comes highly recommended for being good, or more likely- being awful.
I will recommend you to see some disasterpieces, but I will inform you that they are not, in fact, good films- and to set your expectations accordingly.
Hopefully you find my input helpful, and if you don't- the nice thing about the internet is you've got plenty of other distractions to keep you busy.
